Kranjska Gora itself dates back to the 14th century when swaths of forests were felled to create pastures and farmland. Since the early 20th century winter tourism has been growing in Kranjska Gora, with then Yugoslavia's first ski school opening at the resort in 1933. It has since become one of Slovenia’s most popular skiing and winter destinations with excellent modern ski facilities - hosts of the annual Pokal Vitranc and Planica world cup events - , lively ski resort atmosphere with numerous bars and homely restaurants as well as great accommodation options.
