Destination Kranjska Gora

Slovenia's mountain holiday paradise

Located in the north west of Slovenia along the border with Italy and Austria you’ll find the idyllic alpine landscape of the Upper Sava Valley, tucked between the impressive peaks of the Karavanke Mountains and the Julian Alps, with the premier ski resort town of Kranjska Gora at its heart.

Kranjska Gora and the surrounding area make for a fantastic holiday destination for people of all ages and interests, truly a nature lover’s paradise, breathtaking mountain scenery is punctuated by amazing natural sights such as the impressive Peričnik Waterfalls and the stunning Lake Jasna, with a huge range of outdoor activities on offer be it winter or summer. It’s not just the natural beauty of the area which makes it such a great destination, it’s also rich in cultural heritage with famed cultural events, interesting attractions and quaint traditional villages and homely restaurants dotted throughout the valley.

Kranjska Gora itself dates back to the 14th century when swaths of forests were felled to create pastures and farmland. Since the early 20th century winter tourism has been growing in Kranjska Gora, with then Yugoslavia's first ski school opening at the resort in 1933. It has since become one of Slovenia’s most popular skiing and winter destinations with excellent modern ski facilities - hosts of the annual Pokal Vitranc and Planica world cup events - , lively ski resort atmosphere with numerous bars and homely restaurants as well as great accommodation options.
